App is short for application and usually refers to a software application used on your computer or mobile device that is designed to help you complete a task.
It is becoming more and more commonplace for businesses to use apps to help manage things like sales tax, invoicing, and accounts receivable. Some of these apps, however, do not offer a way to do some basic bookkeeping along with their other functions. This could definitely lead to frustration – unless you are also using QuickBooks Online!
QuickBooks Online has the capability to allow you to link different apps you use day to day for your business so you don’t end up having to double enter items. It can seamlessly import things like invoices and payment information and map it for you, with QuickBooks handling the accounting in the background so you can do what you do best – helping your business grow and thrive every day.
In order to connect an app in QuickBooks Online you will want to follow these steps:
- Sign in to your QuickBooks Online account
- Select the Apps tab on the left navigation bar
- Search for the app you wish to connect to your QuickBooks Online account
- Select the app
- Select the Get App Now button
- Authorize the app to connect to your QuickBooks Online
- Follow the remaining steps to connect and set up the app settings to your choice
If you are already using QuickBooks Online but are interested in looking into some apps that may help you accomplish different tasks, you can actually go to the App tab and search for or browse through different apps. You have the ability to click on the app and read a detailed summary of what it helps accomplish and see the pricing and reviews for that particular app as well. If you see the green trophy listed by an app it means it is recommended by QuickBooks Pro Advisors.
Be aware that the only users that are able to connect and manage the apps in the QuickBooks Online account are the Master Admin and Company Admin users.
